Book n Cook 2026

A virtual cooking class series for kids that promotes literacy, local food, and agricultural education, while inviting families to share a love for cooking, learn new skills, and enjoy delicious food.

*Limit of one registrant per household. 

Presenters with Urban Seeds will teach youth how to prepare a recipe while connecting them to the local food system. We encourage you to prepare a dish to share with family and start a dialogue about the cooking tradition in your family. 

Registrants for this event will receive basic cooking equipment (if requested) and a set of books with the first ingredient pick-up. Ingredients will be available for pick up from the chosen library location between 1pm-5pm the day before the virtual session (except for the first session -see below).  This program is intended for ages 8 through 12, but siblings and other family members are encouraged to join in the fun.

This year, Book n Cook 2026 will be divided into two different sessions. Families are welcome to register for both sessions, but registration for the second session will not open up until July 13. You do not have to attend the first session to be able to register for the second session. 

1st session 

Saturday, May 9, 2026: 11:00 am (ingredient pick up on Thursday, May 7- EVPL Closed that Friday) 
Saturday, June 13, 2026: 11:00 am 
Saturday, July, 11, 2026: 11:00 am 

2nd session - registration opens at 9:00am on July 13. 

Saturday, August 8, 2026: 11:00 am
Saturday, September 12, 2026: 11:00 am
Saturday, October 10, 2026: 11:00 am  

There will also be a recording of the video sent to all registrants by the following Monday.
