Celebrate International Day of Girls and Women in Science with NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Mandy Scurry! For children aged 6-12.
Throughout history, women who have tried to make contributions to the fields of science, technology, engineering and math consistently learned that no good deed goes unpunished. Join local NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Mandy Scurry to take a closer look at several women across time and cultures who were seen with suspicion and even had wickedness thrust upon them due to their work in STEM. Defying the odds, they persisted and because of their work, we have been changed for good. This International Day of Girls and Women in Science event will take place on Saturday, February 28 from 2-3:30 p.m. at EVPL Central's Large Group Room.Â
*Originally opened in 1932 and designated as Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library’s main branch, EVPL Central is located at 200 SE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. With 145,000 square feet, the building contains areas for kids and teens, Maker Central, Education Central, Business Central, study rooms, and the Indiana Room, a special collection of materials that focus on local and regional history. Available for public use, EVPL Central also features the Browning Rooms, a conference room, and a large group room.
