November 3: Shawna Kay Rodenberg
Shawna Kay Rodenberg is originally from Seco, a tiny former coal camp near the headwaters of the Kentucky River in Letcher County, Kentucky. She is a mother, grandmother, community college English instructor and a registered nurse. Her poetry, essays and reviews have appeared in Consequence, Elle, Salon, the Village Voice, the Bennington Review, the Crab Creek Review, Kudzu and Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel; she was a recipient of the 2016 Jean Ritchie Fellowship and a 2017 Rona Jaffe Writers' Award in creative nonfiction. Rodenberg is also a vocalist; she and her husband, David, are collaborating on an album, a mix of original Americana, vintage country and traditional mountain songs. Her memoir, Kin, was published by Bloomsbury on June 8.
November 10: Joe Luegers
Joe Luegers is a guitarist, pianist, organist, composer, teacher, and writer. He lives in Evansville, Indiana with his wife Alax and their two kids, July and Rory. Joe published the adult horror novel The Gears That Watch the Clockmaker in 2018 and has since turned his focus toward writing young adult fiction. The first book in his YA sci-fi/fantasy series The Mindbridge Trilogy was published this year, with the next two soon to come. He performs frequently as a soloist, alongside his amazing wife on vocals and ukulele, and in an eclectic range of ensembles including the opera rock band The Tapestry.
November 17: Gina Mullis
Gina Mullis is Super G Author. Her friends and family gifted her the nickname following her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, and she has continued working hard to live up to it since. Writing is one of Gina’s many passions, among those: family & friends, charity work & helping others, education & helping students find success, animals & conservation, fitness & health, and living life as an MS warrior.
Opened in the spring of 2003, EVPL Oaklyn is located on the corner of Oak Hill and Lynch Roads at 3001 Oaklyn Drive. Featuring a green roof that helps regulate the temperature of the building and provides a valuable space for a meadow, the building itself has received national attention and won multiple design awards. EVPL Oaklyn boasts open spaces, study rooms, public access computers, and a popular meeting room.
